Women’s Football Day
Women’s football has had a long gestation, after being banned in 1921 by the FA. GMS is a FA Strategic Lead for the promotion and provision of women’s football, which embraces the promotion and provision of women’s football in a new and memorable way.
Therefore, on Friday 8th March, GMS is hosting a Women’s Football Day, in which all female KS3 students will take part in a House Football competition during 1st period. The target of 750 girls playing football on the GMS site on that one day will be achieved, celebrated and placed as a first for GMS.
Students will not only be playing but also take on the roles of manager, coach and statistician, to name just three. This means some students are participating without actually playing in the competitive fixtures: a fabulous way to be entirely inclusive.
We thank the PE Department for organising this and investing their time to bring about its success.
