DETENTIONS

DETENTIONS

Great Marlow is fortunate in that the behaviour and the self-discipline of most of the students is exceptionally good. All concerned are keen to see these standards maintained and where possible improved upon.

However, if a student fails to meet the school’s standards on punctuality, homework, behaviour or appearance, a detention may be given at a time stated by a teaching member of staff, or member of the Learning Guidance and Support (LGS) team. This can be at break, lunchtime or after school.

There are also two further levels of sanction for more persistent offences. Directors of Learning hold detentions for students in their year, when required. Likewise, the Deputy Heads conduct detentions for more serious breaches of conduct, when circumstances demand it.

Parents and carers will always be notified the day before that an after school detention has been issued either in writing or by telephone, so that transport can be organised, if necessary.

LOCKERS

All students must bring a strong bag each day in which to carry their belongings.  Lockers are available, priced at £30.00 (non-returnable), for the duration of their time at Great Marlow School.
There are enough lockers for all students who wish to have one.

BICYCLE LOCKERS

GMS have installed bicycle racks in two places on the school site: one set of racks is located on the main drive of the school; the second set of racks is adjacent to the Redgrave Sports Centre entrance.  Please note that GMS cannot be responsible for loss of or damage to bicycles or other property at school.  It is expected that students wear a helmet when cycling to and from school. Cycles must be properly lit for riding in the dark.  Students must dismount on school premises.
