Library – Learning Resources Centre

The library, also known as the Learning Resource Centre (LRC) at Great Marlow School provides information, support and a spacious learning environment to all staff and students. The centre has 50 study spaces and three TV screens. There are approximately 10,000 items including books, magazines and 28 PCs. The centre works closely with staff to ensure that its stock is appropriate to the curriculum in the school. Students are encouraged to read whenever possible and have a fortnightly lesson in the library to engage and track their reading habits. The resource centre is run by the librarian, an assistant librarian, and student librarians. To offer as much scope as possible to have access to books and computers the library is open before school, after school, lunch and break. A supervised homework club runs four days a week. Altogether, this is a busy and popular space that is the hub of the school’s learning.

Scheme and is kept up to date with new fiction on a monthly basis.

All students are automatically members of the library once they are enrolled as a student at Great Marlow; they are issued with an individual login to the library system.

In their first term, all students are given an induction lesson where they learn how the library is organised and how to benefit from the library.

Eclipse is Great Marlow School’s online library catalogue and accompanying this resource are lots of online E-Books and Journals available for students to make use of. All these resources can be found on our website under the ‘Student Area’ – ‘Library Resources’ menu.
