GMS v Borlase: Rowing

On Saturday a race was arranged between the two Marlow schools as an early season tester.

GMS and Borlase ran two Divisions, the first being over 5 km for mainly the elder rowers. Sadly, the GMS Senior Boys’ Squad was severely depleted due to illness but despite this, Lucas Gray came top of the Boys’ Singles winning this event for GMS.

The fastest crew of the first division, with also the best relative time, was Charlotte Greening and Lucy Platt in a Double.

The fastest Sixth Form girl in a single was Abi Forgenie

The fastest Quad in the first Division was our Year 10 Girls’ Quad. So all in all a fairly successful morning.

The Second Division was a shorter race for Year 9s and 10s over 2km upstream.

Our Year 10 boys crew were winners of their event.

The Year 9 girls had a better relative time in their Quad than the Borlase Girls’ 0cto.

The result for the Year 9 Boys’ Octos is a bit unclear due to some technical difficulties, but certainly the GMS crew looked the stronger boat.

While not quite a clean sweep, the GMS squad certainly performed well and these results reaffirm that we are in for another exciting year on the river.
