New Club: Chess

GMS Chess had its inaugural meeting last Tuesday after school with 34 enthusiastic chess players from Years 7-12 attending: from amateurs to the more experienced. By all accounts, it was great fun!

With such a promising start, GMS is putting out an appeal to the whole GMS community: family, friends and neighbours for more chess sets that might be languishing at home: the new chess club would give them a new lease of life. GMS appreciates the donations from Chess in Schools and The Chess Trust, but requires a few more so that everyone can play.

GMS also thanks the Chess Trust for their very generous donation of £250 in recognition of the Ukrainian students being supported by the school at Chess Club.

All donations brought in to GMS will be collected from form groups by Chess Leaders – Hassan Nurein, Josh Trigwell and Joseph Legerton.
