Judo International Medal Win

On Saturday 7th October a GMS Year 13 student, Caitlyn Urie medalled at the Hainaut Cup international judo event in Belgium winning four of her six fights.

Representing Great Britain, Caitlyn won her pool fights by Ippon (one throw and one arm lock) putting her in a strong position after the first round.

Her next opponent caught her in a hold down but she came back strongly in the following fight, winning with an arm lock.

Caitlyn’s penultimate fight was tricky and, unfortunately, she lost on penalties meaning that she could now only fight for Bronze.

In the Bronze medal fight Caitlyn threw her opponent with a drop seoi nage in the final fight, to secure third place.
