Climate Change: Citizenship Department

Amelia Jones writes about a Citizenship Department initiative. One of the biggest strengths of our school is the amount of charity work we participate in. Today one of the Citizenship Department goals is to voice their opinion on important issues through their work with Amnesty International.

A dedicated group of students are currently fighting the issue of climate change and have made a huge banner reading “Climate SOS” that they intend to hang in a public place in the school to raise awareness about the significant and relevant issue that is appearing repeatedly in our news today.

Year 7s have signed the poster and when asked, “Why Year 7?” the sixth form leader, Saskia Labllans replied, “Climate change will affect the younger generation most significantly so it is important that we target them and allow them to become involved in an issue that will certainly affect them in the future”

The Citizenship Department are active in this school, but this is the biggest campaign that they have attempted yet. They are hoping that the younger generation, within our school, will listen make changes tomake a difference. It is very good that young people become involved in issues such as these.
