Just recently, the Year 8 Tanzanian Charity Committee met to plan their Charity Week Event Rota (3rd-7th December). The different tutor groups submitted their preferred ways of raising money, and the best way to accommodate all the great ideas was given consideration by the committee.
Stalls selling food and drink are always popular, so there will be stalls with cakes, popcorn and milk shakes for sale. Running for Running Water, popular in previous years, makes a return as some tutor groups opted to organise this event. The old favourite of a raffle features, but the highlight of the week, at least for the spectators because it involves staff being drenched, is sponge throwing.
The committee are hoping for more volunteers from Year 7 and Year 8 to make up teams for the Friends’ Football Tournament, due to be held on Friday 7th December. This event is usually very well attended by spectators who wish to see their team win.
The draft schedule for the week can be found below.
GMS wishes to acknowledge the committee members who have given their time so enthusiastically: Mav Sardie, Tia Briggs, Poppy Ungar, William Clayton, Holly Eyles, Jacob Cooper – L, Joseph Legerton, Kiya Martin, Sophie Cook, Jack Stewart -O, Johnny Green, Issy Owen, Molly Saunders, Harrison Taggart-W, Sal Dunn and Paige Welch.
Many thanks go to the staff and DoL, Mr Ross, for supporting the initiative that makes such a difference to the lives of two children, Martha and Kevin, in Tanzania.
