Farewell Yr13

On Friday 3^rd May, the Year 13 students gathered in the Sixth Form Centre to enjoy a final assembly together.

At 9 o’clock, the students were treated to breakfast prepared by the canteen staff, which gave them the opportunity to chat with their peers before the main event began. Many of the students chose to attend in fancy dress including James Bond, gangster rappers, world leaders and a one-piece masking tape suit. After some time to relax and enjoy each other’s company, the students were given a ‘goodie bag’ to keep them going through the entertainment section of the morning.

Mr Hollyman delivered a speech that was full of jokes and references to the activities and achievements of the students when in Year 12 and 13. Accompanied by pictures, and a great deal of creative license, Mr Hollyman managed to keep the challenging crowd happy for a while. It was clear from the reception that some staff found it a lot more amusing than the students!

Finally, Miss Jones and Mrs Evans gave a slide show containing a fantastic collation of old school pictures and memories from the students’ time at Great Marlow School.

Students’ achievements were celebrated and thanks were given to all of the teaching and support staff who had made the Year 13s experience through their Sixth Form a supportive and enjoyable one.

The students were smiling and happy throughout the morning, which is reflective of their positive and enthusiastic approach to their time at GMS throughout Key Stage 5.

Year 13 students, GMS wishes you every success in your summer examinations.  You shall be missed but the Prom in June is there to look forward to, when the end of your Great Marlow School journey will be officially celebrated.
