Chicks are Mischievous Balls of Fluff

The Great Marlow Science Department has been known throughout past years to conduct rather peculiar and, in some cases, dangerous experiments involving fire, poisonous gases and ambiguous substances. However, the newest additions to the hallowed walls of S8 possess no such threat-unless you have a fear of poultry. Great Marlow is very pleased to announce that the delightful chirping of our baby chicks is, once again, gracing the halls of S Block along with the excited squeals of a few overly keen Year 7s.
These tiny chicks, no more than 7 days old, have been lovingly nurtured by the Science Department from mere eggs to mischievous balls of fluff. It seems that many a student has struggled in containing these devious miscreants as they have a habit of attempting to launch themselves into the air despite having wings the size of an iPod Shuffle.
As for the educational benefits of our feathered guests, these chicks have arrived just in time for the reproduction topic with the general idea being that students will be able to observe the process of development within a species other than our own. All students are welcome to visit the chicks in either break or lunch; an opportunity that has not been wasted by many of the lower school. As one enters the lab they are confronted by the pure excitement of at least 10 Year 7s, 8s and 9s as they each debate who should hold “Pablo” next.
The names currently stand as: Pablo, Linda, Debbie, Ellie, Bob, Bambi, Mungbean and Kentucky. Parents and carers needn’t worry; these chickens are for observation only and any students believing otherwise are very much encouraged to find their way to the canteen in which they will find our renowned Chicken Tikka Wraps.
Unfortunately, these little bundles of joy (and pecking) are only to be with us for 2 weeks so we suggest that, if you have not yet taken a trip to S8 in one of your breaks or lunches, please feel free to make your way to S Block and discover the “aw” inducing cuteness that is our fluffy friends.
