Weekend Rowing: 11th/12th November

This was a busy and hugely successful weekend for GMS rowers. On Saturday, 40 students raced in the Pangbourne Junior Sculls event, which is a distance of 3000 metres down stream. Over 400 crews competed, so the success of GMS is impressive. Our boats crews showed how accomplished they are by earning the boat club, and themselves, five medals in total.

Congratulations go to the Year 10 Boys’ Coxed Quad who won silver; the Year 9 Boys’ Double Skulls who won gold; and  the Year 9 Boys’ Quad skulls who won bronze.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, the senior crews went to the Tideway in London, to compete in the Fours Head, this term’s top national event.

The Boys’ Quad and the Girls’ Quad performed impressively. The boys came sixth, and the girls eighth, in a large field of 50 crews or more. Given the level of this competition these are exciting results this early  in the season.
