Festive Musical Concert

A Year 10 student has written this piece for the website; the photographs and her writing give an insight into the latest, hugely successful, musical event.

“Last Thursday evening, students from Great Marlow School Music Department performed a festive Christmas concert in the Sixth Form Centre, which turned out to be enormously successful: the performers had rehearsed conscientiously; refreshments allowed audience members to circulate; and Young Enterprise came to sell their ‘Mugs and More’ products.

The evening featured everything from a chamber choir and a wind band, to a piano trio and a wind quintet ( five wind instruments or five people).

The concert generated a great atmosphere,making it very exciting to perform in, especially when there were friends and family in the audience.

I play the piano and I’m part of the Jazz Band, Wind Quintet, Chamber Choir and Piano Trio. I only joined Jazz Band and Chamber Choir this year, but I really enjoy attending  all of the clubs.

It took so much time to be prepare for this event,  there was so much time allocated to rehearsing in the lead up, but it was worth it; I really enjoyed being part of the performing team, when I wasn’t performing, I enjoyed watching other groups perform.

I am looking forward to the next concert, hopefully, in the New Year. ”
