Eco Teams Pond Project

As we approach the end of October half term, I wanted to write to you with an update on the Eco Team’s Developments.

In June of this year, with the support of Softcat and Wild Marlow, we reinstated the pond. This has dramatically improved the biodiversity that is now seen around the school. The redesign of the pond was part of a Year 9 Science project and has flourished since the chosen design was put into action.

The development of this project is still ongoing; we now aim to make our pond area accessible and inclusive for all students. The pond will be used by departments, as well as our mental health team for an area to reset. To achieve our goals, we need to add a ramp access and a decked area that stretches across the pond; this will allow the science department to go “dipping”, testing the PH levels, and for the students to take a closer look at the wildlife that now resides in our newly developed area.

The cost of the decked area alone is a staggering £6,000. We are working tirelessly, approaching companies for support and making applications for grants/charity funds, to no avail. I am reaching out to the wider community of Great Marlow School to ask if anyone would support with donation of materials, provide occasional labour or expertise to our amazing cause.
