Spanish Barcelona Trip

On Thursday 22nd October, 40 students and four members of staff flew off for a five day trip to the wonderful city of Barcelona in northern Spain. Many activities were on the itinerary for this trip in one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. Fortunately the weather held: not one drop of rain fell!

Barcelona October 2whole range of places were visited, including the awe inspiring Sagrada Familia Basilica; the famous pedestrian street Las Ramblas; the Montserrat Monastery, high up in the mountains; and the world famous Torres Vineyards, which made a few parents very jealous!

The students were kept very busy in the evenings with aqua gym in a private swimming pool belonging to the accommodation, and a Latin American dance workshop. Everyone had plenty of opportunities to explore Spain’s rich culture; to try out their Spanish; and to taste a whole range of Spanish culinary delights from paella to churros.

Miss King would like to thank, not only the students for their impeccable behaviour and attitude towards everything and everyone on the trip, but also to Miss Tuddenham, Mr De la Llera and Mr Hollyman for being there and joining in all the fun.

¡Hasta la próxima!

Student comments:

“I enjoyed using Spanish in actual conversations and situations, it has made me understand how to pronounce certain words.” – Toby Broyhill-Fogg

“My favourite thing about the trip to Barcelona was probably the last day, before we got on the plane, when we went to Vilanova, Las Ramblas and Torres Vineyards. This is my favourite memory because it was a really relaxed fun day, as I spent time with my friends and learnt Spanish. My favourite food was the seafood paella because it had a real assortment of seafood which was delicious.” – Abigail Harness

Barcelona October 4“I loved going to the Sagrada Familia and I loved the coach journeys as you learnt so much from the explanations given by Michael, the Spanish Star’s guide. The dinners were amazing three course meals and I especially loved the Spanish omelette with salad.” – Amelia Jones

“I really enjoyed the trip to Barcelona because it was an amazing opportunity to see amazing places and fantastic people. I enjoyed the dancing, the Sagrada Familia and the musical fountains: two of them were traditional things and the other was a fantastic church with an outstanding view inside and out. I did get a little homesick but my friends and teachers made it all better. I can’t believe how much we did and I think that we will probably never get to do anything as good ever again.” – Codii Humpreys

Barcelona October 5“The Spanish trip was amazing all round, so thank you very much. My favourite part about the trip was not the activities but the realisation that even though there is a language block, you can still get what you need with some simple conjugated verbs. But thank you and all the teachers for putting up with me and making it exciting.” – Philip Boland

“The part that I enjoyed most was experiencing various selections of foods; encountering the natives; the opportunity to experience Spain’s unique culture; and overall, being able to see what makes places like Barcelona unique and special. The trip was a fantastic opportunity to explore Spain’s culture in depth and boost my confidence in Spanish.” – Sebastian Herzog

“I enjoyed the trip because it was fun and boosted my confidence.” – Wesley Lawrence
