Sports Colours Assembly with Guest Speaker- Ian Rose

A Sports Colours assembly took place, during period 5, on Tuesday 20th October. Ian Rose, one of Great Britain’s most successful paralympic judoka, came to GMS to present the awards. He gave a motivational speech about his sporting journey that has taken him to the highest level in his chosen sport.

He was torchbearer and opening ceremony performer for the London 2012 Paralympic Games; winner of two paralympic; five world championships; and nine European championship medals. He is one of Great Britain’s most successful paralympic judoka performers. He retired in 2011 due to an injury when on course to represent Paralympic GB at his sixth games in London, bringing to an end an international career spanning 22 years at the top.

The assembly was a huge success. GMS are incredibly proud of the students who perform so well in their sport. They are an inspiration and support to the whole GMS community.
