Gym and Dance Spectacular

Many talented pupils of both genders from Year 7 to Year 12 performed choreographed gym, dance and cheerleading routines to an audience of family, friends and teachers.

All the pupils have to be congratulated for their dedication to making the event the success that it was. The routines were planned and perfected over a number of months both in school at home. Each routine had been worked on both inside and outside school but the result was an event that entirely captivated the audience for nearly two hours.

The ethos of the pupils at Great Marlow School is to be admired. Throughout, the older pupils worked to support those in the younger years; their encouragement gave confidence to those new to performing on a stage in front of many unknown people. A special mention goes to the GCSE Year 11 girls, as well as to Kate Murphy, who helped tirelessly with the several groups of cheerleaders from Year 7 to Year 10.

The finale was a spectacular finish with all the pupils who had performed arriving onto the dance floor to “Uptown Funk” for the last dance. The participants showed their appreciation for the audience, who had been enthusiastic witnesses to their performances. The organiser Miss Towe was thanked for organising the event. It was an amazing event that created opportunity, released potential, and achieved excellence. GMS’s motto fulfilled in one memorable evening.

A breath taking performance by Maisy Marshall followed in a contemporary duet. Ella and Siofra performed in a  gymnastics group routine. Burn, was the name given to another duo of GCSE students Nina Hammelink and Georgia Bloise. A tap dance routine by Siofra Bracken, was followed by “I’m a Freak!” another cheerleading routine from the junior girls this time. Another gymnastics display by Hana-Marie Cantrell was the penultimate act before the night was finished by the Year 10 and 11 girls in their dance “Salvation”.
