Sports Colours Assembly

A Sports Colours assembly took place, during period 5, on Thursday 23rd October.
Rachel Yankey, an Arsenal and England ladies footballer, holder of an MBE, came to GMS to present the awards. She gave a motivational speech about her sporting journey that has taken her to the highest level in her chosen sport.
At present she is acclaimed as:  the most capped England Women’s player in history; one of England’s national side’s all-time greats because she won her 100th cap three years ago and scored against Japan in the World Cup; a renowned Olympic competitor because she featured in all of Team GB’s matches at that great sporting event; one of Arsenal Ladies’ best footballers, shown by the countless honours she has won from them.
