Big Bang Fayre

On Friday 17th March, nine members of staff took 183 Year 7s to the Big Bang Fayre, being held at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) near Birmingham.

The event celebrates science and engineering. Numerous stalls are manned by young people who have designed and produced a prototype of a new idea: showcasing their ideas in this public way raises the profile of science and engineering, as well as highlighting the many career possibilities available in the spheres of science and technology.

The aim of the Big Bang Fayre is to involve, excite, motivate and encourage participation by all young people. Certainly, this was achieved as far as the GMS students were concerned. The hands-on activities and explosive shows will remain a memory for a long time:most especially, running through the accelerator, watching explosions on the stage and being engineers (building bridges).

Staff, accompanying the students, report they were all impeccably behaved: a credit to Great Marlow. We congratulate everyone who made the day the success that it was.
