Judo Success Celebrated

Josh and Cait Urie competed at the British Schools judo finals recently. Josh earned himself a top-ten placement, being ranked as 7th overall. Cait was awarded the Bronze medal.

For Josh, this was an amazing achievement, as he was one of the youngest in the Year 8/9 category and, notably, in the group with the biggest number of competitors.
The attached video shows him giving his best throw in the competition; it’s a huge ‘uchi mata!’

Cait was disappointed with an early loss which took her out of the running for Gold or Silver. However, she was determined to take the Bronze and won four subsequent fights by ippon to achieve that, with 3 drop seoi nage’s and a hold down.

GMS is very proud of both students and wishes them further success as they move forward with their chosen sport.
