House Music is Back

House Music is back! After a thrilling first competition last year, House Music returns in 2024 and will take place on Wednesday 28 February.

The competition is open to all students in Years 7-11 and will feature a variety of instruments and genres. Each student, who enters, will perform on behalf of their House to a group of specially selected judges. House Music is a fun and inclusive competition with all skill levels welcome.

How the competition works

After entering the competition, the students will be placed into instrumental categories and key stages. Each student will perform a piece of music of their choice in their instrumental category to the judges. The judges have the challenging task of deciding a winner of the category!

Instrumental categories include:

• Drum
• Guitar
• Piano
• Strings
• Voice
• Woodwind and Brass
• Ensembles
• NEW THIS YEAR! Composition

What are the judges looking for?

• A well-rehearsed piece of music
• Or, in the composition category, a piece of music that has a clear brief. For instance, what is the piece of music about or what is the piece of music for?
• Above all, for the performer/composer to be enjoying the occasion!
