Y13 Judo: European Tournament

One of our Year 13s, Frankie Weaver-Poole, has furthered his successful career in Judo by coming in the top 5 of an important European Championship. The competition was held in Ingelmunster in Belgium, where he fought as a ‘Senior’ in a new weight category. He performed brilliantly; he narrowly lost to the silver medalist and missed the Bronze to a very experienced International 27yr old full-time player from Luxemburg.

In the final leaderboard, Frankie was 5th, which is a phenomenally brilliant result to achieve in a European Tournament at the age of 18.

His younger brother Ralphy, is also to be congratulated for performing so well in his very first European Competition.

Both boys will be fighting at The British Schools in Sheffield this weekend, followed by the London Open and Northern Ireland in April. GMS wishes them every success.
