White Ribbon Day

The mission is to prevent violence against women and girls by addressing its root causes. The aim is to change long established, and harmful, attitudes, systems and behaviours around masculinity that perpetuate gender inequality and men’s violence against women. White Ribbon UK’s work is preventative, they want to end violence before it starts. As a school we encourage everyone, especially men and boys, to make the White Ribbon Promise to never use, excuse or remain silent about men’s violence against women or girls.

To commemorate White Ribbon Day this year, which coincides with the start of the UN’s 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, the charity has identified 11 traits, one for each player on a football team, each of us can strive to incorporate into our daily lives in support of women and girls. The 11 traits are below and sit nicely with some of our own GMS values – Resilience and Reflection.
