Maths Challenges

The Senior Maths Challenge is taking place on Tuesday 1^st October from 1pm -3pm. This involves A-level students. In addition, those students who achieved a Bronze, Silver or Gold in the Intermediate Challenge (February 2024). We wish every student the best of luck.

Last week, 147 Year 7 and Year 8 students took part in a Junior Maths Challenge. This is a fantastic number, all of them prepared to be challenged by this recognised national mathematics event. Each Challenge is unique and sets out to extend mathematical thinking; the questions are based on logic and problem solving.

GMS is proud of every student who takes part and their ‘willingness to participate’ is recognised by awarding them with a Special Certificate. The photograph shows the successful cohort of students from May 2024.

Also, by taking part, every student earns points for their House. In the round last week Kites had 63 participants, Hawks had 44 participants and Eagles had 40 participants.
