Great Marlow School staff took part in the ‘Wear It Green Day’ to show their support for Mental Health Awareness Week. Many staff wore the visual green colour suggested by the Mental Health Organisation, resulting in the students appreciating how important this subject is to our school community.
This year’s theme was, “Movement: moving for our mental health.” The message is clear, being physically active is great for both bodies and minds.
Exercise does reduce anxiety and depression, and it can help to prevent physical illnesses. Research by the Mental Health Organisation has proved this to be true.
Students have been educated about mental health through GMS’s ‘Thought for the Week’, which has highlighted the importance of movement to stabilise state of mind. The library, too, has raised awareness through activities and a display.
