House Competition: Remembrance Day

For Remembrance Day 2023, a House competition is being launched to collect plastic bottles: both 500 ml and 2 litres.

Every bottle counts towards the House total, so students and staff are being encouraged to start collecting and depositing them in their designated House recycling banks, and bags located in form rooms. Student recycling monitors will ensure the banks do not become over full and the bottle total is registered consistently.

Also required are black buttons for the centre of every poppy. Again, students will earn their House a point for every button deposited in the button bank.

 

Each poppy will be made sustainably made from plastic bottles, cut and moulded by GMS’s Eco-Warriors.

The Art Installation being envisaged for GMS is based on Paul Cummin’s  Poppy Installation at the Tower of London. The quad, the centre of the school’s Bobmore entrance, is going to become home to a sea of poppies.
