England Hockey Awards: Nomination-Lottie Porter

The prestigious England Hockey Awards will be presented by Notts Sport on Saturday 01 July 2023 at the Athena in Leicester, where the winners of this year’s awards will be announced: among those gathered will be our own Miss Lottie Porter.
She joined the GMS PE team seven years ago and in her time has worked relentlessly to develop hockey into a ‘sport of choice’ for so many at Great Marlow School: the school is now blessed with A and B Teams in the junior years and upward of 200 players, who regularly represent the school in local, district, county, regional and national competitions.
Such is the success that the Girls U18 team represented the school in the Indoor National Finals last year and this year, the same team won the U18 Tier 3 Outdoor Final.
The sport has grown to this popularity from just one team, when she arrived, which was an amalgamation of three different year groups. Today, GMS boasts teams in every year group and for both male and female players.
As well as securing outstanding levels of performance, which have been achieved at the respective levels listed above, Lottie Porter has the ambitious aim to grow the game even further to make it completely accessible to all our diverse range of students. She has a genuine passion for working with young people and especially towards the development of hockey.  Without a doubt, she is an absolute credit to herself, our school and the game of hockey; this nomination recognises her tireless efforts to improve the provision and performance of hockey in our school, it is one more step in her being recognised more formally in a country-wide event.
We wish our own Miss Lottie Porter every success in the award ceremony to come on July 1st: it’s an accolade to be nominated by the school, its staff, parents, carers and students.
