The important Model United Nations trip is a popular annual event, organised by Mr Philpott. This year, twelve lucky Year 9 students went to the event with eight other schools from Bucks.
Our GMS students worked in teams collaboratively, rather than competitively, with students from other schools on a day when 27 countries were represented, alongside five media houses.
It was a day of intense negotiations over the issue of ‘freedom of movement’, which included the current worldwide refugee crisis. In the end, a resolution was agreed upon, proposed by France.
Our students won four awards, with their colleagues from other schools.
- Isabel Heard-Norrish won a media coverage preparation award.
- Marie Pearson won an award for best foreign affairs correspondent.
- Addy Lancaster won a public speaking award.
- Callum Wolstencroft won a commendation for diplomacy.
All our students represented our school fantastically, demonstrating resourcefulness and responsibility: we are proud of them.
Many thanks to Mr Philpott for organising this very important event and for giving the students a wider understanding of the world in which we live.
