The Childcare Department are launching their exciting new T-Level in Sept 2023 for Year 12s. It is targeted at all GMS students who have a desire to work with children.
The qualification is equivalent to 3 A-levels and students can also progress to university on a child-related course.
The substantial course content includes studying the conventional course of child development. However, it also includes understanding the specialist needs of those who fall into the disability sector; the important roles of parents, carers, families agencies and support services; and finally the care and education sector, which supports growth and development of all from ages 0 to 19.
The new T-Level is a fusion of in-school tuition and specialist placement settings, where experts, with a wealth of knowledge and experience, give high quality work experience.
The qualification carries the licence to practice, which means qualifying at Level 3, to work unsupervised with children.
The T Level in Education and Childcare gives you the experience, knowledge and skills needed to enter a wide range of careers working with children and young people. There are so many motivating post-school opportunities:
- as a fully qualified early years practitioner in an early years setting
- a university course to train as a teacher
- playworker
- teaching assistant
- learning mentor
- nursery worker
- special educational needs (SEN) teaching assistant
