GMS’s Eco-Warriors want to make a difference to the global issue of waste; they also want to earn the Eco Schools’ Accreditation.
There is a way forward, mapped out to make our school as good as it can be.
Firstly, can every member of the GMS community take responsibility for litter. Let’s be proud of our environment.
Secondly, this Easter term, the members of the three Houses are challenged to collect and dispose of three waste products absolutely correctly. The Houses will be judged on accuracy, amount collected and the way the waste is deposited.
HAWKS: Crisp packets
KITES: Bottle caps
EAGLES: Paper cartons
Thirdly, tutor groups are challenged to devise an Eco-Schools Mission Statement. Each tutor group will submit one entry. The winning tutor group will win an Eco prize!
Finally, every form group will have a designated Recycling Eco Officer, whose responsibilities will include organising recycling for the form group; attending a termly meeting; gathering feedback from the form for improvements/WWW to share with the Eco-committee; and checking the lights are switched off in rooms at the end of the day.
