Goodbye Laurence Beveridge

Traditional goodbyes to staff who leave GMS occur in school, surrounded by colleagues: this is a very different farewell, as Laurence Beveridge is in isolation with Covid, we hope he is feeling much better.
Laurence came to GMS when Mrs Becky Brown was HoD, it was an inspired appointment by her; she saw the potential and believed he would make a great music teacher: she was proved right. And, what a difference he made to the Music Department.
Just pursue the picture gallery on the website to see the impact Laurence has had. He enjoyed nothing more than sitting with students and playing his instrument alongside them. His huge love of music and talent was used to encourage and nurture music in others. He believed in helping, supporting and encouraging students to become even better musicians.
The concerts, gigs and drama musicals showcased his confidence, expertise and commitment to making every occasion professional, memorable and fun to be a part of.
Students flourished because they liked and respected him. He was endlessly kind, encouraging and patient: those taught by him, past and present remember him with affection, whether they had a talent for music or not.
All at GMS and the wider GMS community wish him good luck in his new venture: it’s time for his musical ability to flourish in new places.
Very importantly, we wish him a wonderful wedding day, we wish Laurence and his wife all the happiness in the world.
Please take the time to view the photos HERE which celebrate the fantastic contributions Mr Beveridge has made in the music department at GMS.
