Prefect: Red Tie Assembly

On 20th September 2021, the Prefect Red Tie Assembly formally initiated the new Year 11s with their prefect status.

It was a lovely event with 82 students officially becoming prefects; this year the assembly was attended by proud parents and carers, too.

Mr. Ford presented the ties and Mrs Rooney took official photos. Of course, proud parents and carers also took pictures.

In the afternoon the prefects completed an hour’s training, which included some basic safeguarding.

Duties started a week later; this year the prefects are working more closely with the staff who are on duty and this seems to be successful.

To become a prefect was not an easy option: candidates were asked to apply, as one would for a job application, from a job advert on the GMS website. A formal letter, and a CV, referencing the 6Rs was required. Huge congratulations, therefore, are given to every one of the 82 successful candidates. 

“The hard work now begins.” says Mr Ross, who is extremely proud of his prefects, he is enjoying working with them as they settle into their role.
