Sports Day Report

Well, the first Sports Day for over two years turned out to be amazing. The three new Houses, Hawks, Kites and Eagles fought valiantly for placings in each and every race. All the house leaders reported being incredibly proud of their competitors: both the dedicated sports students but also those who ‘stepped into the breach’ when there was no-one to compete.

First, Second and Third places interchanged between the Houses in the different year groups and competitions. The final outcome, however, was Hawks in First Place, Kites in Second Place and Eagles in Third Place. No one House can be secure, though, for there are few points between top and bottom of the league board.

All the staff of the PE Department, all the sixth formers who supported House members, plus everyone else involved, (too many to name in person) are thanked for their hard, dedicated work.

The next House challenge is a photographic competition, led by the Geography Department. All students are challenged to ‘Step Outside’,  soak up the beauty of their local area and take a photo of that beauty. Print or send an image to Mrs Messenger at  nmessenger@gms.bucks.sch.uk.

Every photograph earns points for the student’s House. As the competition ends on 20th October, House members are encouraged to ‘get photographing’. That lead by Hawks could easily be overturned.
