HRH Prince Philip-DofE Stories

Following the sad death of His Royal Highness Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award are building an unprecedented collection of DofE stories to celebrate the Duke’s inspiring impact on generations of young people. As the patron and founder of the DofE, HRH The Duke of Edinburgh transformed how millions of young people saw themselves and saw the world around them. Launched in 1956, the DofE sparks self-belief and self-discovery. It helps young people realise that they can shape the world – and gives them the skills to do just that.

Every young person who takes on the DofE Award creates unforgettable memories and as a tribute to His Royal Highness, the charity are collecting stories together from people who have worked towards, or achieved a DofE Award. In this way, they can inspire the next generation of young people to start their own DofE journey. To celebrate the Duke’s legacy, experiences can be shared by visiting the DofE website: DofE.org

The charity have also launched the Living Legacy Fund, to give a million more young people the life changing opportunity to achieve a DofE Award over the next five years. Set up in memory of HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, the fund will help young people build the self-belief, confidence and skills they need to feel ready to overcome anything life throws their way. The fund will be used to establish new DofE centres and develop existing support, especially for young people facing financial hardship or other barriers.

Today more people than ever are doing DofE, regardless of circumstance and are continuing to build resilience, commitment, self-motivation and team work.
