Oxfordshire County Select GMS Rugby Star

From GMS’s squad of great players, Will Leach, from Year 11, has been selected by Oxfordshire County for their U16s rugby team. There is no huge surprise to this as he has been a stalwart of the GMS rugby team from day 1 in Year 7. He captained his Year group for three consecutive years, and is one of the best all round players the school has seen in this last decade.

His strength is playing at fly half, which is crucial to winning, as he is the “play maker”: the one who is strategically placed to understand and direct the game play. As Will is athletic, knowledgeable, calm under pressure, and fearless at tackling, he does lead from the front.

GMS encourages all its students to give a commitment to a field they are interested in. Often it leads to the goal of achieving a personal best, which boosts self confidence. Will Leach stands as a testament to what one can achieve with hard work and resilience.

The PE Department are incredibly proud of him, GMS join them in being proud that he is one of our students.
