Superb A-level Results

Congratulations to Great Marlow School (GMS) students on a fantastic set of results, in their A-levels and Vocational courses, at the end of Year 13.

Celebrations have been in full flow at GMS today as students received their results. There were scenes of great excitement as nearly three quarters of students achieved grades A*-C in their A2 examinations and well over a third of grades were at A*-B or the vocational equivalent.

Mr Kevin Ford, Headteacher said, “Another brilliant year for Sixth Form students at Great Marlow School. The percentage of students achieving grades A*-B and A*-C was once again outstanding. These results demonstrate that the school is continuously providing high quality education and, very importantly, all students feel challenged and supported to achieve their very best. I am proud of all the students, who worked hard to achieve the grades they did this year and that is across the full range of grades and courses, both A-levels and vocational.

We wish all our students every success as they progress to the next phase of their lives and thank them for their contribution to the cultural and social life of the school. In addition, I would like to thank all staff at the school, as these results are testament to their dedication and hard work. The achievements of this cohort of students will continue to inspire future generations.”

The Director of Sixth Form, Owen Hollyman, commented on the year group, “The students have achieved in their academic performance, in their contribution to the life of the school and in the Marlow community. Year 13 students should be justifiably proud of their achievements.”

There is huge delight that so many have been successful in attaining university places on some of the most competitive courses in the country including the top Russell Group universities such as Oxford, Nottingham, Edinburgh, Southampton, Cardiff and Exeter. Other universities, which students selected, were King’s College London, Loughborough, Bournemouth and Oxford Brookes.

A number of students have taken up very significant apprenticeship positions including a fantastic opportunity with Mars, a much sought after apprenticeship with the Royal Airforce, and one student has a prestigious place to train to be a Norland Nanny.

Some students were able to overcome really challenging personal circumstances to achieve excellent results. This was due to the support and guidance given to them by the school, their families and to their own diligence. Well done to all involved.

Finally, very best wishes to all the students as they move on to university, prestigious apprenticeships or employment.
