Mums’ Netball Tournament

Another great sporting achievement for Great Marlow School on Sunday: this time not by the students, but by the Mums of the students at the annual Mums’ Netball Tournament.

The netball tournament has been running for 9 years now. Originally, it was started to encourage mothers back to a sport they had not played since their school days.  Over the years it has seen players return, year after year, from various local schools, who have now taken up netball on a regular competitive basis.

This year we had 8 teams entered from local community schools, including Borlase and Cookham Dean, who were defending their winning titles from 2018.  GMS entered two teams into the tournament, which were comprised of some top notch division players and some Mums who had not played since school.

FoGMS is extremely proud to announce that both GMS teams were victorious, winning both the trophy and the plate prizes.  Well done to all the ladies, who conscientiously trained, on a weekly basis, since February in order to be match ready.  Thank you to everyone who helped coordinate, coach and umpire, all the dedicated work paid off in the end!

Running the event raised in the region of £800: invaluable funding towards the FoGMS fundraising target for this year.
