Big Bang Fair

The Year 7 cohort went to visit the Big Bang Fair held at the Birmingham NEC on Wednesday 13th March. The Big Bang Fair is an annual event that invites many companies, universities and most importantly students to come together and enjoy the world of science.

At the fair, our Year 7 students had the opportunity to visit different stalls and speak to many adults working in STEM careers, as well as taking part in many experiments! The fair included many interactive shows, demonstrations and activities. A great day out was had by both students and staff alike, with many of our students wishing they could have stayed longer!

Staff asked Year 7 students to give a review of their day, with Evie commenting that her ‘favourite activity was going into a huge dome of the universe to explore the star constellations’. She also said the day really inspired her to work hard to achieve her dream job as an RAF Engineer!

Another students wrote a poem to describe his day out:

‘What I did on my trip to the Big Bang Fair’

Arran Bligh, 7A

The coach journey was long, but not boring –
Though the people asleep were snoring.
When we arrived, some people may have laughed,
Because they saw a Red Arrow Aircraft!
There were games and even virtual reality,
Which was brilliant! So I exclaimed happily…
‘I’m so happy I could cry!’
Even though there were not any jetpacks to make you fly.
Photos? I took quite frankly loads,
More than I have of my garden toads!
In my group was Adam, Sam and Ben.
My rating? I’d give it a ten!

The Science Department would like to thank the Year 7s for being fantastic representatives of the school and for their brilliant engagement with all of the activities going on! The team are already looking forward to next year’s event!
