Fund Raising for Amnesty

Just before Christmas, 7 students from the GMS Amnesty Youth Group participated in a sponsored silence to raise money for the human rights organisation Amnesty International. By giving up their right of expression, the students symbolised that people all across the world are unable to speak out against infringements and abuses of their human rights. Their action was ultimately a huge success, and they raised a total of £289.50! 

The funds raised will be used by Amnesty International to directly defend human rights. This includes investigating and exposing abuses, setting up campaigns to protect human rights, getting other people involved in these campaigns and educating people and communities worldwide about their rights. The Amnesty Youth Group hope to inspire younger students to be actively involved in campaigns, and to continue fighting for our rights in the UK and worldwide.
