Safer Internet Day 2019

“Safer Internet Day 2019 is being celebrated around the world on Tuesday 5th February 2019. The global theme is ‘together for a better internet’”

We are just a week away from this important initiative to raise awareness about being safe when using the internet. Online safety for everyone is important, but online safety for young people of school age is crucial. Finding ways to warn of the dangers of invasive online activity is essential, but keeping abreast of the continually evolving online platforms can be a challenge.

Safer Internet Day tries to deliver an important message about keeping safe online in a fresh and inspiring way.

With just one week to go until Safer Internet Day on the 5th February, now is the perfect time to reflect on how all our readers view and review online safety.

Online safety is central to every school’s curriculum, but it is also a crucial part of everyday living: at home and in the workplace. Being aware helps to combat the problems. Please work with GMS to make our children safe.

To learn more, students should go to the “Student Area” heading on the website front page, while parents and carers have links from the ‘Parent and Carer’ heading. Both can be located in the blue strip above the rolling photographs of the school. GMS recommend reading the material found there, to help ensure safety online all of the time: not just when highlighted in Safer Internet Day.
