FRIENDS’ FOOTBALL Tournament – Tanzania Charity

Great names have been chosen by the participants in the Friend’s Football Tournament – here they are:

In GROUP A –

ROAD MAN/ DOOM / SCUTTY SKITTLES / 11:50 AT TESCOS / SPURS / TRES TEAM.

In GROUP B –

SANTA FC / GREAT MARLOW FC / AFC YEETABIX / THOMAS THE TANK ENGINE FC / MANTLES MINIONS /O MIGHTY TEAM OF GODS.

Friends’ Football is proving extremely popular as a 2018 charity fund raiser: now all is set for the finale of the Friends’ Football Tournament. The games are scheduled to start at 3:15 and should be over by 5 pm on Friday 7th December.

Each team will be involved in 5 games in each group stage. The top two teams from each group will have a play-off the best two teams will play in the GRAND FINALE.

Please note, members of a team knocked out in the group stage do not have to stay until the end, unless, of course, they wish to support their fellow students. Mr Ross anticipates the group stage to last about an hour.

GMS is grateful to the Year 10s, who are refereeing the games and helping run the event. Without the referees there would be no games, so central to success is respect for them and all others who are participating.

Teams are welcome to wear their own kit, but bibs will be provided if necessary. Of course, all students know that footwear has to be suitable for the AstroTurf: no boots or blades are allowed.

Awaiting in the wings is a wonderful trophy, donated by Hawkins Sport, that Mrs Roddick, who runs the Tanzania Charity, will be presenting to the best 2018 team

The success of this fund raising week is the result of very many people’s hard work. GMS, on behalf of the charity, thank all of those involved. We are extremely proud what the school’s achieve.
