Saddle Safari

The wider GMS reading community may ask, what is Saddle Safari?

Now, thanks to a memorable visit from a local company, the name is connected to the opportunity to ride many different kinds of bike. GMS  students were fortunate to benefit from a visit from ‘Saddle Safari’ on Thursday 11th October. A variety of cycles were brought into school for the students to ride, bikes suitable for all participants of all abilities.

Students had the opportunity to try tandems, trikes, balance bikes, hand cranks and mini-cycles. Riding different cycles proved challenging at first, but with some practice the participants were soon showing their command of speed and skill, as they raced around the school field and enjoyed individual timed competitions, including ‘bike limbo’.

This was a fantastic and fun way for a group of students to experience an activity from a completely new perspective, while developing their coordination and confidence.

Ms Murray is thanked by GMS for being the lead organiser of this event and for making it an unforgettable occasion. The school continues to strive to find new opportunities to widen a student’s experience, and this event proved a great way to do so.
