Fantastic GCSE Results are Celebrated at GMS

A set of outstanding GCSE results have been achieved by the students of Great Marlow School. Students performed extremely well across all subjects, over 60% of all grades were at Grades 9-5, with almost 20% of all grades at 9-7. The performance of the students in the core subjects of English, Mathematics and Science was very pleasing with English leading the way, 85% of students achieved a Grade 4 or above, with 70% of the cohort achieving a Grade 5 or above.

Mr Kevin Ford, Headteacher, said, ‘We are delighted with these fantastic results. The students and teachers have managed the huge changes to the GCSE syllabi and the examination process incredibly well. There is no doubt that the rushed nature of the changes and the lack of clear and accurate information from the exam boards has led to increased anxiety for teachers, students and parents. Despite these challenges, the students have performed phenomenally well and this is testament to the quality of the teaching, support and guidance that they have received from every member of staff at Great Marlow School. I am particularly pleased to see the significant numbers of students that have achieved Grades 8s and 9s in subjects, as these grades have only been awarded to the top performing 4 or 5% of students in the country. This clearly demonstrates that Great Marlow School enables students of all ability profiles to reach their full potential.’
