Scalextric Club 2018

On Tuesday the 22nd May the long awaited ‘Design and Technology Race Night’ for the Year 7 and Year 8 Scalextric Club 2018, took place.

Students had been working hard for months to make, build, design, and stylise their own Scalextric car before coming together to compete in a time trial and team racing event. Outstanding performances were seen from the team of Owen James, Rhys Sandalls and Sean Sandalls.

Jamie Walker and Andrew Tilbury fought hard and raced well, too. A special mention goes to Reuben Metcalfe who was only narrowly beaten in the time trial, but gave a massive, and impartial contributto the event.

 

The standard of car design was raised this year to include more complicated decal designs and a more technically challenging race track. Vacuum forming, laser cutting, CAMM1 vinyl cutting, and a range of hand tools and techniques were used in the creation of these magnificent racing machines.

The Design and Technology Department have had a great time watching the designs and constructions taking shape. Staff are proud of all the students who reached the chequered flag. We are now waiting excitedly to launch the next club in the 2018-2019 academic year.
