Bronze Duke of Edinburgh

Many GMS students begin their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh awards but find that pressure of time causes them to halt the process. As far as the award is concerned this is not a barrier to success: all awards started in 2015 can still be completed. Helen Murray, the GMS coordinator, manages all levels of the award; she wishes all students to know that this prestigious award is within grasp to all who complete the sections.

The Duke of Edinburgh Award is internationally recognised as a youth development programme where participants are identified as young people with commitment, endurance and extensive teamwork and communication skills. These traits are highly regarded by potential employers and when applying to colleges/universities.

Most students who have not completed their Bronze award just have to add a few details to their DofE account, or chase up an outstanding assessor’s report. This should take very little time and they will be rewarded with the certificate and badge they have worked so hard to achieve.

GMS urge all Duke of Edinburgh participants to log in to their DofE account and submit the outstanding pieces of evidence. If students experience any problems with this, they can go to see Helen Murray in the PE office in the New Year.
