Detentions

Great Marlow School is fortunate in that the behaviour and the self-discipline of most of the students is exceptionally good. All concerned are keen to see these standards maintained and where possible improved upon.

However, if a student fails to meet the school’s standards on punctuality, homework, behaviour or appearance, a detention may be given at a time stated by a teaching member of staff, a Student Support Officer or Director of Learning. This can be at break, lunchtime or after school.

There are also two further levels of sanction for more persistent offences. Directors of Learning hold detentions for students in their year, when required. Likewise, the Deputy Heads conduct detentions for more serious breaches of conduct, when circumstances demand it.

Parents and carers will always be notified that an after school detention has been issued either in writing or by telephone, so that transport can be organised, if necessary.
