Rowing Triumphs

With the summer term drawing to a close, so too does the regatta season. GMSBC finished the term off with nine crews taking part in the British Championships which had their largest entry, by far, ever. Eight of our crews made it through to Sunday finals day and we collected two bronze medals and two fourth positions from these.

Although all the rowers raced very well and achieved very good results, Ross Honey leaves Great Marlow having won a National Medal in every year of his rowing career at the school, which makes him the third student to have done this.

Other highlights from the later stages of this season were our third appearance at Henley Royal Regatta where the eight managed to qualify in style and have a good race against a strong crew from Australia; the top girls four qualifying for Henley Women’s regatta; and a high entertaining and successful inter-house regatta where Warrior and Victory, managed a dead heat in total points to share the title.

The total number of National level medals for 2016 is eight, with two golds, three silvers and three bronzes. The boat club should be very proud of their achievements this season.
