Scalextrics4Schools Technology Club

On Thursday 14th July 2016, students from Design and Technology Year 7 and Year 8 came to the end of their 5 week programme in the Scalextrics4Schools Technology Club. Students have been working very hard designing, decorating and building their own Scalextric cars, which on Thursday were pitched together in a racing grand finale.

This was the inaugural year for the Scalextrics4Schools Club at Great Marlow School, and it proved to be a massive success giving the Design and Technology Department much hope and enthusiasm towards launching the club again in 2017.

The extra curricular activity allowed students across the two year groups to work collaboratively with people they would not normally see at school. The working skills, creativity and technical knowledge were massively developed as students were introduced to the modern technologies that we are able to offer as a department such as CNC routing, laser cutting, and Camm1 Vinyl cutting.

Ultimately, the club proved to be a huge success and will, hopefully, inspire the participating students to stretch their learning within technology, as well as draw from the experience the key cross curricular skills that they have all developed.
