Hampton Head Race

GMSBC took a large squad to the first race of 2016 on Saturday.
Recent fast streams have made getting on the water difficult so the squad were excited to be rowing and racing, even if not as well prepared as some of their competitors who have had more opportunity to actually row.
There were some extremely strong performances by a number of GMS crews.
The girls year 9 Octo  came 4th, two seconds outside the medals, and  the year 10 boys A Quad  came  6th in a Large field.
The year 10 girls however won Bronze medals in coxed fours and were 5th in their eight.
Yet again the year 11  boys showed their  strength by  coming in second place in both the coxless fours and quad events. Most notably in the quads, the other two medallists from last year’s British championships were a significant distance behind them.
