July 2015 Events at GMS

GMS are offering an eclectic mix of events in July. The month begins with a Music Concert on the 1^st July at 7 pm. This promises to be an evening to remember, like all the other musical events held this academic year.

The following night it is Prom night for the leavers in Year 13, for them this is a special event; it brings to a close seven years of secondary school and 13 years of formal education.

The annual Art Year 8 Fashion Show happens in the main school hall at 2pm. It is always a treat to see the creations of the pupils as they proudly display their hats.

The sell-out Sports Awards Evening is on Friday 3^rd. For all those involved this is the highlight of the packed sporting calendar. Sports Day happens on the 9^th July, weather permitting. With the increased competition of the four houses this promises to be a day of thrills and spills. Finally, there is a Sports Award Trip on the 15^th July.

In preparation for further education opportunities, GMS’s Year 12 students have a UCAS day and evening on the 6^th July.

GMS welcomes its new Year 7 intake on 7^th July. The new cohort has a whole day to become familiar with the layout of the buildings and meet form tutors and other staff. In the evening parents and carers are invited to attend a formal meeting, where they will have the opportunity to ask questions.

Design and Technology pupils are displaying their work in a wonderful exhibition in the school hall, from 1pm -5pm on 10^th July.

Friday 10^th July, the Year 9 begin an action packed weekend away on a PGL site, newly opened. This has been carefully planned so that all Year 9s can celebrate the end of KS3.

The Year 10s have their Rewards Trip on 14^th July.

GMS honour the achievements of outstanding pupils on 15^th July in a Celebration of Success. This is always a spectacular event.

Finally, a hard year’s work ends on 17^th July 2015. Pupils leave the site at 1pm.
