Girls Hockey B Team Draw

The hockey B team, who played at Dr Challoners, followed the 2-1 win by the A team, perhaps that took the pressure from them. The girls started slowly, due to the fact they had not played on an indoor pitch before. The defence were strong and kept control, while the midfield burnt off many calories running and passing  hard. It was a shame when a goal slipped past making the score 1-0.

The B team came back though, not prepared to give up without a fight, and encouraged by the shouts of support and encouragement from the A team standing on the sideline.

Fighting back, they were rewarded by a goal in the back of the net by Jessie. When the half time whistle went, the score was 1-1 with all to play for in the second half. The girls were very motivated and ready for the second half thanks to the encouragement by the coach Haynesy. Unfortunately, Dr Challoner’s came back fighting. Their team shot the ball into the back of the net. Refusing to submit to defeat, the girls continued to play with a positive attitude until the final whistle. With a minute to go GMS got a break: the ball flew into the back of the net.

All the girls enjoyed playing the game. The player of the match was Hope Smith and the goal were scored by Jessie.
